thereabouts story
Thereabouts was born on an unplanned 1600 mile bike ride halfway across Australia.
“There or thereabouts” was a phrase our mum always used to say. As kids strapped into the backseat on a long road trip, we didn't understand it. As adults and professional athletes we were annoyed by it. We didn’t work on approximations. We wanted to know exactly where we were going and we were impatient to get there.
That was until we weren’t. We burned out. Changed course. Became lost on the ride and found ourselves in The Outback, pedaling toward the edge of nowhere with no place in mind. There was something to sport that we’d been missing, the journey, and in the outback we were determined to find it. It was slow, it was hot, and it was hard, but it was also life changing.

Finally “there or thereabouts” started to make sense.
We could see the value in the unknown, the journey, the growth and change that occurred when you were open to whatever comes down the road. And so we embraced it.
It was in this very personal experience, with no clear destination that thereabouts was born. As a way to pursue and share stories that matter, that entertain, that help us understand the world.
It’s how we’ve lived our lives ever since, diving head first into the task, unsure of where we’re headed, unafraid of where we’ll end up.
